[Rxtx] No rx using usb-serial on linux, regarding previous problem submitted by Ewan Harrow

The list seems very quiet at the moment, so I am still stuck with the
problem of no rx from the usb-serial ports when using the RXTX 2.1.7
libraries.
 
I noticed in the mail archives, the Ewan Harrow seemed to have had the
same problem and posted on 30th Jan 2004. So if there is still anybody
out there from that time who may be able to recall the solution to this
problem, perhaps even Ewan?
