[Rxtx] Serial.addEventListener bug?

I'm using an old version of RXTX. Its 1.4-8 (packaged by Sun for use on
OpenServer 5.0.7). Its what Sun packages.

I have noticed that SerialPort.notifyOnDataAvailable(boolean) throws an
exception. It seems to throw the exception if no listener was previously
declared (although I've not had chance to verify).

Is this desireable behaviour? Sun's original API doesn't mention anything
about an exception on this function,
http://java.sun.com/products/javacomm/reference/api/javax/comm/SerialPort.html#notifyOnDataAvailable(boolean)

Of course this is an old version of RXTX, so perhaps this has been changed.
