Did you install drivers for your USB-to-Serial dongle on both machines?

It's not a good idea to install RXTX into /Library/Java/Extensions. You
should configure your apps classpath and java.lib.path to use locally
packaged jars and libraries (e.g. in /Applications/YourApp.app/lib)
