To have it complete, reliable, traceable, maintainable and well tested,
it is much more work, I'm afraid. A prototype can be done within a few
days (maybe on one day), but getting it right (including a passed
review) IMHO is a completely different story. In the end you may end up
with an average of ten lines per day, when assuming four major native
packs (common, win, mac, termios/select) with let's say just 5000 lines
each (with logging messages and detailed exceptions this is not much) we
would have to estimate a total effort of nine man-years
(20000/10/220)...
