Michael,
I forgot to reply when I discovered why RXTX did not work with our Atmel USB Virtual Serial
Port. It was finally determined that our device firmware had a bug that prevented RxTx from
opening the virtual comm port. Once this bug was fixed, there have been no problems.
Initially testing was done using TeraTerm and the terminal emulator was able to connect
inspite of the firmware defect. I don't recommend ever using TeraTerm for testing virtual
comm ports!
